The U.S. needs to develop a strategy for occupying and rebuilding a country in a manner that minimizes resistance from locals, and quickly builds an independent, friendly, nation that shares America's values. Well, Israel has done such a good job of this, why not take a page from their book?

SL: shooting at a wedding party or letting off some caps knowing there are soldiers in the area. hmmm, can't decide which is dumber.

SH: Its hard to measure success. You have a bunch of Arabs who are hated in countries where they'd join the majority ethnicity, if tehy were allowed in, but aren't (e.g. Saudi Arabia, Syria), their leader promises to send 100,000 martyrs at you, their primary school textbooks belittle your very right to exist and make all sorts of sick aspersions, and they make heroes out of people who kill the elderly and children. I'd say that anyone facing that who shows an ounce of respect for such opponents is fooling themselves and should probably just build a fence to keep 'em all out. [RM: Perhaps it's hard to measure success, but if the U.S. is occupying Iraq 35 years from now while fighting a guerilla war with no end in sight - it's easy for me to call that failure.]

SH- there's obvious differences between ISrael & the territories and the U.S. & Iraq. [RM: Which is an additional, though less forceful, agument supporting my point that the Israeli occupation of Palestine should not be the model for the U.S. occupation of Iraq. Thank you.]

Yer so smhrt and "forceful" I just came. I dunno how we keep up with you. B/c I'm stoopid walk me through again: You quote an article that says that U.S. military officials have expressed interest in studying Israeli tactics for possible deployment in Iraq. You make a snide joke about how useless Israeli tactics are since they're such a failure and say "Israeli occupation of Palestine should not be the model for the U.S. occupation of Iraq." (Did you even read the article? "model for U.S. occupation"?) My beknighted thought is that Israeli tactics may or may not be a failure b/c their situation is so different, but, anyway, their "failure" is a stupid-ass standard to impose on a US Military study of such tactics for deployment in Iraq. For example, Einstein is dead, but what he thunk about may still be useful. Or closer to home, deployment of troops and structures around a road block in Israel may be useful in setting one up in Fallujah, notwithstanding some Palestinian's forceful murder of women in children on a bus 100 miles away. Again, I'm stoopid, but I think your only point is on top of your head, zippy.

Democratic Candidates' favorite songs (sans W. Clark). Apparently, Dean is trying to hold himself out as the white chocolate candidate (although Clinton did a better job of it).

Heh, Neuticles.
SH: Damn, that's pretty cool. How couldn't you prefer to retain your dog's natural look and self esteem.

SL: "With Neuticles- It's like nothing ever changed" - yahhhhhhh right.

Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. RM: Hmm, yes, I've heard about this, but I don't believe it.

SL: its some BS that it had anything to do with Cambridge, just some internet myth. but still kind of cool.

RM: It is kinda cool.
