Ari, To respond to a question about wiping out a country, beheading gays, and imposing 14th century Islamic caliphate under penalty of death by a wearisome recantation of Bush criticism demonstrates poor reading comprehension, logical analysis and other basic aptitude skills. All I detect in your writing is untrammeled confirmation bias: everything confirms Bush is a bad guy.

OK, so stipulated, he sucks, now please: What should be done about Iran? Non-responsive answers include what happened before (e.g. 9/11, PATRIOT Act, the Shah, etc), who's in charge of US policy, Karl Rove etc. Responsive answers might include: do nothing, bomb them, sanction them, let the Euros handle it, etc.

Bonus questions, and please answer without comparative descriptions (I'll do the same for your questions):

1. Did over 5 million Jews die in the Holocaust?
2. Should the people who orchestrate bombings of Israeli civilians be punished by lenghty prison terms?
3. Did a dozen Arabs operating under instructions from Arab terrorists fly planes into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon and cause the death of over 3,000 Americans?
4. Was Bin Laden's videotaped statement that he orchestrated the 9/11 attacks genuine or fabricated?

Thanks for the pdf link. Didn't read it. No time right now.

Thanks for the quiz/test. Not sure why everyone wants me to answer their lists of questions. Am I the only liberal/radical? Does NOBODY else watch John Stewart's Daily Show? (That's liberal, not radical.) How about Democracy Now?

1. Was there a holocaust w/lots of Jews killed? Not sure why this is relevant? Anyway, I believe so. And millions of blacks were killed, murdered, & raped in the slave trade (and torture), and millions of Indians suffered similarly in the conquest of the Americas. America denies it was millions in the latter two and will not pay reparations or do any reasonable compensation.
2. How should Israel punish bombers? Hard to say, not sure why I'm being asked. Is the question: how to stop terrorism in Israel? Big question, bottom line answer: I don't know, neither does USA or Israel.
3. Were there 12 terrorist responsible for 9/11? I'm not sure. I think Bush & CIA wants us to believe this, but from what I've read, they drank alcohol & used hookers (among other things), they were mostly from Saudi Arabia, and they may or may not have been responsible. I don't trust Bush or the CIA on that one, and there's enough controversy over it that many books are being written on this topic. ** Where are the 'black boxes' from those planes? **
4. Was Bin Laden's videotaped statement that he orchestrated the 9/11 attacks genuine or fabricated?
Don't know. I don't speak Arabic. A friend who DOES speak Arabic said the killers speaking when the first American was beheaded on video had thick foreign accents and were not native Arabic speakers. Don't know if that proves anything, but I was quite dubious of the whole thing.

OK, moving right along:

What to do about Iran:
The USA should not be doing anything about it, b/c the USA's offense through-out the world is provoking ALL other countries to beef up their military, incl nuclear.

I hear the FEAR of Iran, but the reality is Iran is not attacking other countries, overthrowing govts, or killing masses of people. That's the USA.

Iran is a repressive country with horrible policies. So is our ally, Saudi Arabia. And there are others equally bad, perhaps worse.

Lemme put it this way: I think Bush made the situation worse, and I truly doubt going to war with them is a good idea. BUT, if a country spends $500bil a year on a military, and the wealthy profit every time it is used, it seems likely that we'll use the military a lot under a right-wing president (and left-wingers too).

Iran? Engage them in full diplomacy, perhaps even a state visit to Tehran. Explain in no uncertain terms that nuke development in conjunction with rhetoric about war with the US and Israel is unacceptable. Get laughed out of the room. Actively support the students and intellectuals in their revolution plans. Extend our diplomacy by striking militarily at their nuke facilities and top leadership.

1. Yes, plus millions of gays, disabled, Soviet POWs, gypsies, commies, other misc. slavs and poles.

2. Yes, or death.

3. Yes.

4. Genuine.

Did you ever watch Fahrenheit 9/11? I just watched it for 2nd time last night.

More powerful argument than I might make, linking Bush & Saudi's more strongly than I do. Also leaves a lot of room for interpretation, either Sony's "he didn't know" or mine "he knew & knew he'd profit from an attack".

Great film, btw. Highly recommended.
