Anyone ever read any Chronicles of Amber books by Roger Zelazny? Just bought the biggie... Interesting 'fantasy / sci-fi crossover'. (On pg 220 of 1264 pages!)

Please comment w/your favorite scifi reads of all time.

I read the first series of "Amber" books. I think I liked them. I think there was some sort of mix between sci-fi and tarot involved.

I don't think it needed to be that long though.

As for fiction, I read more fantasy type -- Hawkmoon series from Michael Moorcock was good.

Just a quick start:
Gibson's "Neuromancer" trilogy & "Burning Chrome",
Stephenson's "SnowCrash" and "Diamond Age",
Aasimov's "Foundation" books,
Herbert's "Dune" (only read 1st 4 books),
Maxx's "Jennifer Government",

yes to Neuromancer, Snow Crash, first few Dunes,

throw in Ringworld, I Robot, one other Neal Stephenson I think...

but I been reading them war books lately.. Jarhead, (Gulf War, great read, very catch 22ish, , movie should be ok even if not true to theme), Generation Kill (by the embedded rolling stone reporter, Evan Wright, IIRC)

(Hate that you can't edit comments) anyways if you don't got the time to track down/read one of those war books you can get the gist in William Broyles Jr's Why Men Love War from Esquire, November 1984
